Tarah Phongsavath is a former NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Athlete for Missouri State University, where she received her B.S. in Exercise and Movement Science in 2020. In 2024, Tarah completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy at The University of Kansas Medical Center, where she also served as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Representative for the School of Health Professions and the DPT class. She believes that as community members, “we are obligated to create a culture within our respective communities that positively impacts the lives of all its members.”

Tarah discovered her passion for pelvic floor physical therapy after a guest lecture at KU-Medical Center. Learning about the high correlation between female athletes and pelvic floor dysfunction resonated with her experiences as a Division I athlete.  Since then, she has been passionate about peripartum care, addressing stress urinary incontinence in female athletes, and sharing her knowledge about pelvic health.  Tarah pursued additional training through the APTA Pelvic Health to specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy in 2023. She has presented various topics related to pelvic health, including Purwicks in the Hospital setting, Hospital Acquired Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and the Female Athlete, and Sacroiliac Implications for the Athlete, and running assessments to address pelvic floor dysfunction. Her journey started with valuable education about her own body, which empowered her to speak about it without shame.

Tarah is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy, and the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. Born and raised in the Kansas City Area, Tarah is excited to start her professional journey with Foundational Concepts. In her professional practice, she is prioritizing what is most important – serving others and making a difference as often as she can.

Tarah enjoys a variety of activities in her free time that keep her balanced and energized. She loves gardening, watching sports, reading, and the nostalgia of going to the movie theater. Tarah also enjoys spending time outdoors, participating in activities such as kayaking, hiking, soccer, pickleball, and disc golf. Additionally, she values her relationships and cherishes time with her family, plants, and her church community.
